The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) has announced its second list of four candidates for the upcoming elections to the 29-member Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) slated to be held on February 27.
The list declared by the election committee, KHADC of the party on Wednesday includes Raton Manick Mukhim from Mawhati, Holiwell Khongstid – Nongskhen, Pynthymmaibor Chyne – Shella and Alvin Khyriem Sawkmie – Mawsynram.
Earlier, the party had announced 11 candidates in its first release on December last year which include three sitting MDCs – Jansing Tynsong from Langkyrdem Laitkroh, Victor Ranee from Jirang and Pyniaid Sing Syiem from Sohryngkham.
Meanwhile, the name of KHADC chief Hispreaching Son Shylla, who is the sitting MDC of Nongkrem constituency, is yet to be announced by the party.
Meanwhile, three names have been announced in the list of candidates released by the United Democratic Party (UDP) for the upcoming KHADC and JHADC polls which will be held in February 2019.
The names approved on Tuesday include Bhawan Chyrmang who resigned from Congress and will be contesting from Saphai Constituency, Zosiama Thianglai who resigned as President NPP East Jaintia Hills and will be contesting from Saipung Constituency and Frankie Paul Marbaniang who will be contesting from Mawkynrew Constituency, UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh said here.
