NSA asks groups to ‘shun violence’

New Delhi, June 2 (MExN): The Naga Scholars’ Association (NSA) has termed the recent firing incident between two Naga national groups as “antithetical to the ethos of the ongoing peace process and the Nagas’ call for an honourable solution.” A press release from NSA President, Dr. Zuchamo Yanthan, and General Secretary, Dr.Lungthuiyang Riamei, stated today that the incident could “jeopardize achieving our common cherished goal.” The NSCN (IM) and GPRN/NSCN were involved in a firing and killing incident on May 31 in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district, between Namsang and Sipini villages. The NSA urged the Naga national groups to “shun violence and strive towards peaceful environment and co-existence.” They also appealed for the creation of a “congenial atmosphere in the course of the crucial engagement for a negotiated political settlement.”
