NSCN (I-M) summons ex cadre

Dimapur, February 20 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has directed one “ex-Naga Army Sergeant” Benedict Daniel to “turn himself in to the regional authorities for clarifications” and to “prove his innocence in 24 hours’ time period” for alleged “anti-national activities.”  

A press statement issued by MIP NSCN (IM) informed that an investigation team was send to the residence of Benedict in Maram on 23 February to ascertain report that he was indulging in alleged “anti-national activities with intent to wage war against the Nation.”  

While Benedict managed to escape but the investigating team recovered one AK series rifle and two .22 rifles along with live ammo from his residence, it said.  

“These can be deducted as clear evidences to indicate him as a mercenary or to raise a private army if not proven otherwise, it added.  

Meanwhile, the MIP statement further condemned the ransacking and destroying of the residence of 6 “national workers’” allegedly by supporters of BJP candidate from Tadubi Constituency aftermath the raid.  

Their residences were “ransacked and destroyed in the presence of wives and children and viewed as arson against the State,” it added.  

In this regard, the NSCN (IM) directed former Sergeant to turn himself in and prove his innocence and also cautioned against anyone harbouring him.
