Dimapur, May 27 (MExN): Days after accusing Indian security forces of proxy war involvement, the NSCN (IM) alleged on May 26 that the Indian intelligence agency is engaging in highly orchestrated social media warfare, "using the tribal card to create fissures within NSCN, desperate to set tribal sentiment on fire."
A press release from MIP, NSCN (IM), claimed that the modus operandi involves using fictitious Naga names belonging to certain tribes and writing provocative articles. The NSCN (IM) recently came across an article titled "Muivah is a Problem, Not the Solution," followed by a counter article titled "Rendering Political Education to Zavisituo Angami," it said. According to the MIP, a fictitious Tangkhul name was used as the author of the article.
"What has really caught our eyes was when the names of the revered Naga national leaders AZ Phizo and Th Muivah were used, playing the tribal card to create destructive storms on tribal lines among the Angamis and the Tangkhuls," it maintained.
These articles were made to go viral on social media platforms, it added, terming it a "carefully considered social media strategy" playing with the sanctity of Naga national leaders.
Phizo and Muivah have their respective places in the history of Naga political struggle. It was because of their tireless work that the world came to know better about the political rights and identity of the Nagas as a people and as a nation, the NSCN (IM) stated.
It was Phizo who led the Nagas from the front and declared Naga Independence and conducted the Naga Plebiscite to reaffirm the sovereign will of the Naga people, and all Nagas must appreciate and give due honour and respect him for what he had done for the Nagas and their righteous cause at the right time, it noted.
He had dedicated his entire life to bearing the unbearable burden of living in exile in London until his last breath, it added.
Without Phizo, the political status of the Nagas today would have been a different story, the NSCN (IM) stated.
It further noted that Muivah, who came into the Naga political scene, had played his role in the Naga political movement with tireless commitment to the political goals laid down by Phizo.
"It was under his firebrand revolutionary leadership that the political status of the Naga nation with sovereign rights has been given a new meaning by the government of India after the historic Framework Agreement of 3rd August 2015," the NSCN (IM) asserted.
"The political significance of the agreement pointed to the recognition of Naga independence declaration on August 14, 1927, and the Naga plebiscite of May 16, 1951, to reaffirm the Naga independence as the sovereign will of the Naga people," it added.
Accordingly, the NSCN (IM) stated that the Nagas would not be naive enough to be carried away by misleading communal divisive propaganda waged by the Indian intelligence agency.
