NSCN (IM) Ato Kilonser and others condole Chonthingla Shimray’s demise

Dimapur, January 7 (MExN): NSCN (IM) Ato Kilonser Th Muivah, Naga Hoho, and Konyak Union (Myanmar) have condoled the demise of Chonthingla Shimray.

Chonthingla, the wife of General Ningkhan Shimray, the Army Chief (Longvibu) of the NSCN-IM, reportedly passed away after a brief illness at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research on January 7.

Th Muivah: In a condolence message, Muivah conveyed “deep sorrow and an overwhelming sense of loss” upon receiving the sad news, stating that her demise has left behind a void that words cannot begin to fill.

He further paid tribute to the late Chonthingla, saying she was a beacon of strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication.

Since joining the national service on April 1, 1981, she lived a life of extraordinary purpose, devoting herself to every task and cause with unmatched zeal and sincerity, Muivah noted.

Her indomitable spirit and selflessness were an inspiration to everyone who crossed her path, he added.

The NSCN (IM) Ato Kilonser noted that the late Chonthingla was a daughter who “held a special place in my heart and in my family's life,” and said that her “vibrant energy, compassionate soul, relentless pursuit of excellence, wisdom, and wittiness remain etched in my memory.”

“She carried out her duties both at home and abroad with grace, leaving behind a legacy of service and sacrifice that will forever be honoured,” he said.

Her death has left an unimaginable void—not only in the lives of her loved ones but also in the hearts of all who admired her dedication and spirit, he added.

On behalf of the nation, Muivah offered heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones, saying, “May the Almighty grant strength to all those mourning this irreplaceable loss. May her soul find eternal rest and peace.”

Konyak Union (Myanmar): The Konyak Union (Myanmar) also expressed shock and sadness at the untimely demise of Chonthingla, the wife of the Chief of Naga Army and also peace mission supervisor for the Eastern Konyak area.

In a condolence message on behalf of the Eastern Konyak public, KUM General Secretary K Akham Honwang said that the people would be remembering the General and his bereaved family in their prayers, though remote communication problems prevent them from reaching his residence.

It further conveyed its prayers that the Almighty God may strengthen them to overcome this difficult period.

Naga Hoho: The Naga Hoho (NH) also conveyed deepest condolences to General Shimray, the Army Chief (Longvibu) of the NSCN-IM, and family on the demise of Chonthingla.

She lived a very dignified life and was a God-fearing woman, it said.

“At this hour of grief and sorrow, I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May she rest in eternal peace and joy,” stated the message issued by Sulanthung Lotha, President, Naga Hoho.
