Dimapur, Feb 27 (MExN): The ‘CAO’ of Konyak Region of the NSCN-IM has issued a clarification on the incident on February 17, where he along with some cadres assaulted one Shingwang Konyak in Tizit.
‘CAO’ Pongwing Konyak in a clarification gave an account of the whole matter. Pongwing stated that he had called for a meeting of all NGOs and public in regard to business establishments in Tizit. Tizit is a strategic area bordering Assam but it has no goods shop and “most horribly, there is not even a single salon and tea stall”. Taking these reasons into account a meeting was called. The CAO instructed his Leacy, one Wangkam Konyak, to call the president of the Shop Union, Shingwang, “to discuss formalities”. The person however did not turn up for the fourth day and “with patience and tolerance” the CAO waited. It was only later that it came to the knowledge of the CAO that the Leacy had assaulted the president of the shop union “which was beyond my knowledge”. Later it was informed that the KU Tizit had issued an ultimatum for the release of Shingwang.
The CAO in the clarification stated he was shocked to hear of the news and immediately proceeded to contact the KU of Tizit and called for a meeting to discuss the matter. The meeting could not be held as expected because of “negligence from the other side”. So the CAO officially wrote to the KU Tizit to explain the reasons behind serving the ultimatum. The KU turned up with hundreds of public, the clarification stated. Only then the CAO could come to know that the Leacy had assaulted the president of Shop Union. The Leacy admitted this, the note mentioned. The Leacy assaulted Shingwang because “he was always hesitant whenever he was called upon by the Konyak region”. In the meeting called, the CAO on his own behalf and on behalf of his comrades apologized to the public for the whole incident.
