
Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today clarified that the United Sangtam Region has not been campaigning in favor of any candidate. The statement which the MIP said was in “response to the NPF seeking clarification from NSCN authority” on the allegation of its involvement in the 59 Seyochung-Sitimi Assembly Constituency stated that “we have not gone to the extent of campaigning for any candidate” and “therefore the question of Kilo Kilonser giving direction in this matter did not arise at all.” The MIP, however, said it was a “matter of regret that when certain members of Khaplang group and GPRN/NSCN are freely involved in the campaign we were compelled to keep watch and control the situation from turning into a messy affairs.”
Furthermore, the NSCN (IM), in responding to the allegation of four Pochury organizations that ‘the NSCN functionaries were involved in the ensuing state election in 20 Meluri Assembly Constituency’, has issued a press release from its Central Administrative Officer (CAO), Pochury Region, Tsuwatho Po, terming the allegations as baseless. The CAO has additionally said that it is the Khaplang group that is actively campaigning in certain areas of 20 Meluri A/C in favor of one particular candidate. “The intent of the statement signatories of the press statement is nothing, but to tarnish the image of the NSCN,” stated the press release.
