Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today reiterated that it is a Naga people based organization and the ceasefire was signed between the ‘Government of India (GoI) and NSCN’ as two entities to negotiate the Naga political issue.
“The activities of NSCN are not subjected to Nagaland state government or at the whims of Nagaland state Governor by using the state police or Assam Rifles. Nagaland state Governor getting involved in law and order using the state machinery is a violation of Cease Fire Ground Rules (CFGRs),” it stated.
The MIP of NSCN (IM) in a press release on Tuesday alleged that “Governor RN Ravi has over stretched his hand to get involved in a case where one notorious woman, Urimilla J Mech is the focus of controversy.” According to the MIP, Supong Ao and Sungjemtoshi Aier approach the Union Territory (UT) NSCN (IM) to lodge a complaint against Urimilla J Mech who had allegedly duped them of a huge amount of money given to her on loan after she mortgaged her plot of land.
“It was under this circumstance that the UT, GPRN put itself into action to deliver justice,” it stated. “As the investigation proceeded it was revealed that Urimilla was a woman of deceptive and deceitful character. But throughout the process of investigation she was never mishandled or unfairly treated,” it claimed. Following an FIR filed by her at the East Police Station, Dimapur with “unfounded allegations against UT officials, even leading to the arrest of innocent appellants, Supong Ao and Sungjemtoshi Aier and unnecessary harassment to NSCN members attached with UT,” it stated.
The MIP said that “this factual status of Urimilla against UT was notified to the Chairman of Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG), GoI, Lt Gen Retd Amarjeet Singh Bedi to clarify that in no way NSCN violated the Cease Fire Ground Rules (CFGRs) when CFMG questioned the Cease Fire Monitoring Cell (CFMC), NSCN of violating CFGRs by UT personnel in this Urimillla case.”
Therefore, NSCN (IM) has urged that “justice must prevail but without criminalising the Naga issue with vested interests.”
