DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 19 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has condemned the killing of Yumsen Matey, a former Congress legislator from Khonsa (West) Assembly Constituency, under Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh. The ex-MLA was reportedly shot dead in a village in Tirap district where he had gone on some personal work on December 16. In a condemnation note, the NSCN (IM) said it abhorred “this kind of dastardly act whatever be the reason” and said “resorting to political killing is not going to take us anywhere.” It stated that there are always a wide range of means to look into for resolving political conflicts or differences. The violent use of guns as a tool to settle political scores is going too far and against the rule of humanity, it added. The NSCN (IM), meanwhile condoled the death of Matey, who it recalled, was an able, dynamic and inspiring leader with high integrity. It expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and close friends.
