
Dimapur, Jan 15 (MExN): The NSCN-IM condemns, what it alleged, the planting of a landmine at Athibung by the NSCN-K “in collaboration” with the Manipur People’s Army, the umbrella organization of Manipur insurgent outfits. On the January 14, a man by the name of Lt. Tongmang aged around 30 years, and son of one Letlam succumbed to a landmine explosion planted by rival cadres personnel ‘with only his lifeless head to be recovered’, an NSCN-IM MIP note alleged. “The NSCN/GPRN in response to the Geneva call has signed the deed of agreement to ban usage of all Anti-Personnel Landmines. The NSCN/GPRN has never used in practice and does never intend to use landmines and is out-rightly against its usages. But to our resentment, the MPA in collaboration with the Khaplang outfit have been raging anti-Naga campaigns and planting landmines at Naga populated area and victimizing innocent Naga publics and domestic animals” it stated. It also mentioned that “adversaries have continued to rage their terrorist’s designs” by planting bombs at Tamenglong district, Mandeu village, Khandihang village, etc. The MIP note further alleged that at Tausem sub-division, a woman and a man were severely injured in a landmine explosion planted by MPA and NSCN-K cadres.
