Dimapur | October 3
The Collective Leadership of the NSCN (IM), in the 22nd year of negotiations with the Government of India (GoI) for resolving the Indo-Naga political issue, has moved to New Delhi for resumption of the talks. As per an NSCN (IM) source, a contingent of its top leadership led by Ato Kilonser and General Secretary Th Muivah flew to Delhi from Dimapur on October 3.
Formal talks will resume by next week after a two-month long break. The Collective Leadership had spent the past two months at its Council Headquarters, Camp Hebron, Dimapur meeting the Naga civil society leaders in a series of consultations.
The last formal talk was held on July 26, which was subsequently followed by two “informal” meetings in Delhi and Dimapur.
The scheduled resumption comes in the backdrop of the NSCN (IM) writing to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) expressing resentment on the prospect of continuing the talks with RN Ravi as the GoI’s Interlocutor, who is now the Governor of Nagaland state.
The NSCN (IM)’s apprehension is over Ravi’s dual role as Interlocutor and Governor, Nagaland. How this will affect the talks is unclear with the NSCN (IM) still to formally make a statement in this regard.
