DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 30 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) Lotha Region workers have appealed to the Lotha Hoho for withdrawal of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against the contractors of the Wokha-Merapani Road, M/s. Infra CS.
A letter to the Lotha Hoho Chairman from the office of the NSCN (IM)’s Lotha region, Central Administrative Officer said that this was required to “make concerted and positive efforts by all concerns to find the desired solution from outside the legal Courts through mutual understanding and settlement.”
“The avoidance of such legal procedures is necessary as it will be only counter-productive at the same time the end-losers will be the common Lotha public. The Hoho’s serious efforts to ensure a good road is understood and the people and all concerned have the same desire for which it becomes necessary to let the ongoing works continue peacefully and without hindrances,” it added.
It said that the NSCN Lotha Region has taken note of the “non co-operative attitude of the contractors involved in the same work and had failed to respond to the letter of the region authority dated August 17, 2019 which was merely aimed at making mutual settlement a possibility.”
“However, as per the urgent necessity for a good road, the Region authority and workers had resolved to extend all possible co-operation towards the Lotha Hoho and its frontal organizations and to the road contractors in all seriousness as it is the only road of the people not the implementing agencies,” It added.
The letter called for efforts to “tackle the issue with positive outlook rather than getting the very important road project entangled and messed up in legal courts as the people are drastically in need of a good road for larger developments and progress besides reduction of vehicles repairs and maintenance.”
