NSCN (IM) mourns demise of senior member

Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on Wednesday grieved the demise of Brigadier Tokiho Chishi, MSM, the incumbent Commander of the Unified City Command, Kohima, Naga Army on June 16 after a prolonged illness.

He hailed from M Tsugho (New Kilomi) village under Sumi Region and enrolled in the Naga national service on October 1, 1983, a press release from the NSCN (IM) through its MIP informed.

 “In the name of His Excellency, the Yaruiwo of the GPRN, the Longvibu of the Naga Army has bestowed upon him posthumously the rank of Major General on the 16th June, 2021 in recognition of his service to the Naga nation,” the release also informed.

“For his selfless contributions and services to the Naga national cause for self-determination, his name shall be recorded in the pages of the Naga history,” it stated, while adding that the void created by his demise is deeply felt and would be difficult to fill.

All the offices of the GPRN remained closed on June 16 and the Naga national flag was flown half mast from morning till sunset as a mark of respect to the departed senior Naga national worker. Further, as homage to the departed senior member, the Naga Army flag will also be flown half mast at the General Headquarters (GHq) of the Naga Army, Brigades, Battalions and Command Centers/Units of the Naga Army for two consecutive days on June 16 and 17.

The NSCN (IM) conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members of Major General Tokiho Chishi and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
