NSCN (IM) on January 25 killing

Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): The killing of one Atovi Yepthomi at New Market in Dimapur on January 25 reportedly by cadres of the NSCN (IM) has been claimed to be a case of “misinformation.” The NSCN (IM) today issued a note stating there was “misinformation” which resulted in the unwarranted killing of the deceased. The NSCN (IM) today said it had “thoroughly investigated” the killing of late Yepthomi on January 25. “Taking into account all sources of information and circumstantial evidences of the killing, the investigation reveals that there has been misinformation which resulted in unwarranted killing of Late Atovi Yepthomi,” the ‘MIP’ note claimed. The NSCN (IM) termed the killing to be “very unfortunate” and in this regard tendered “sincere apology to the bereaved family and the Thahekhu Village Council”. The outfit also expressed appreciation for what is stated is the “patience, understanding and cooperation” of the “parties concerned during the course of its investigation”. The NSCN (IM) has decided to award appropriate punishment to the “errand cadres” at the earliest, it added, but did not mention what action.
