NSCN-IM ponders on NSCN-K’s definition of sovereignty

Dimapur, Jan 13 (MExN): The NSCN-IM questions the NSCN-K on its ‘definition of sovereignty’ even while being in alliance with Meitei militant groups and also, issuing threats to Naga civil society and organizations. “They should define their sovereignty and their alliances with the Assam Rifles, SC Jamir and other Indian agencies of anti-Naga in nature. They should also bring to light their alliances and brotherhood with the Meitei outfits like United Liberation Front (UNLF), MPA, PREPAK and KYKL who are against the Naga people’s aspiration” a note from Kakuto, ‘Deputy Director’ of “PWD”, NSCN-IM stated. Further, if at all they are representing the Naga people, why should they be threatening and issuing intimidations to the Naga Hoho, the Naga Mother’s Association, the Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights, Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Naga Students’ Federation, Naga International Support Group, All Naga Students Association of Manipur, legislators, public leaders, etc, the NSCN-IM queried.

Asserting that to evaluate the NSCN-K’s idea of freedom struggle, a definition of their sovereignty needs reflection, the release observed that SS Khaplang is a Burmese Naga claiming to be fighting for the unification and liberation of the Nagas, but is openly working with adversaries to divide the Naga family. The NSCN-IM terms this as “very questionable”. They talk about sovereignty but covertly defend the “treacherous statehood of Nagaland creation – the 16 Point Agreement” it stated.

According to the NSCN-IM, the NSCN-K has no right to question the “integrity and authenticity” of the Collective Leadership since the rival group is without the support of the Naga people.

“The Indo-Naga political problem is a complex issue requiring time and indepth evaluation and deliberation. It is not an issue like buying vegetables in the market that can be resolved overnight. In fact, the Naga people have borne much of the emancipation struggle brunt and today desire for an early resolution to the vexed Indo-Naga political issue, but it is the stubborn and selfish elements of the likes of Khaplang outfit that are trying to creating obstacles and impediments towards our pursued goals” the ‘Deputy Director’ pointed out.

“Are they fighting for Naga people’s liberation or fighting against a Naga tribe? What have the Tangkhul tribe in particular done to the Nagas other than shouldering all the vicissitudes in bringing forth the Naga peoples struggle to the attention of the international community as well as promoting our common cause to where we are today. We are struggling for a common cause and whoever is leading or taking the responsibility of shouldering a responsibility is not to be communalized as it is not a tribal cause but a common Naga national cause” the NSCN-IM added.

The note also mentioned Akato as “the defector” and that his press articles are irrelevant for reasons of his “un-principled and instable self and personality” and one may say black is white or white is black “but nature’s identity will remain as it is, for God’s creation cannot be altered”.
