Dimapur, May 3 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today questioned what it called the “reckless behavior” of one Captain Ganga Singh of the Assam Rifles posted at Lambui-Shokvao village. Terming his behavior to be “unwelcoming,” a note from the outfit’s ‘MIP’ said  that on 2nd May at around 1:00pm one W.Shimray, a dy. kilonser of “forest, environment and minerals” was detained for half an hour while on way from Ukhrul via Lamlang gate. “He was openly insulted and humiliated in front of the whole villagers without any reason” the note alleged. In a similar incident, the AR under the command of the said Captain Ganga Singh raided the house of one Clement Lungleng of Shokvao village “without the knowledge and presence of the village headman”. The action and the motive behind the AR’s action are simply to disturb the existing peaceful environment in the area, the outfit added.

On May 2 shooting
The NSCN (IM) has responded to the May 2 shooting incident at Dimapur where two Sumi student leaders were shot reportedly under mistaken identity. The “NSCN/GPRN” had claimed responsibility and also officially issued an “unconditional apology” yesterday. A press note from the NSCN (IM) ‘MIP’ termed the shooting incident as a “diabolical agenda of Ahzeto group at Kehoi camp” and that they had “tried to assassinate Mr. Benito Swu and Mr. Atoka both of whom are innocent public”. The NSCN (IM) also questioned that if the incident of targeting the student leaders was a case of mistaken identity, “then whom were their actual target?” The NSCN (IM) observed that the “Kehoi campers have no clear political agenda and vision to persuade the people to its fold”.
