NSCN (K) allege rival’s ‘terror spree’ in Ghaspani area

DIMAPUR, FEB 23 (MExN): The NSCN (K) has claimed that rival cadres are continuing their offensive “baying for more Naga blood and rampantly roaming around Ghaspani area harassing and torturing innocent civil populations”. This despite the “reconciliation and unity” proclamation of their Chairman Isak Chishi Swu, stated a press communiqué issued by Isak Sumi, Military Spokesman, NSCN (K).

It was alleged that families of NSCN (K) workers have been targeted “without any provocation or fault” and villagers are herded in groups and indiscriminately beaten up and properties belonging to families of NSCN workers are being seized”.

Pointing out that threatening villagers with dire consequences for providing shelter to National workers besides physical tortures, the NSCN (K) stated that this was “a re-enactment of those harsh days the Nagas endured during 1950- 70’s under Indian Military rule”.

The NSCN (K) further claimed that Vikato Sumi of Zhuikhu village an innocent Naga, who was beaten black and blue and rendered half-dead, is still struggling to survive while a mother of four children and a wife of NSCN (K) member was manhandled and her mobile phone and other properties confiscated. Besides, innocent villagers of Kikruzima were beaten and tortured without any valid reason. “Could such gesture be considered an offer of peace, unity and re-conciliation? Leave alone at least the innocent and blameless section in our conflict”, the NSCN (K) stated.
