
DIMAPUR, APRIL 28 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Angmai-Mulatonu) issued a press release today that reports of the group being involved in the firefight with security forces as reported in regional media is “factually incorrect.”
A press release from the organisation clarified that the NSCN-K (Angmai-Molatonul) is currently engaged in peace talks with the Government of India, and “peace has been consistently maintained from our side. There has been no involvement of our cadres in any such confrontation.”
“The said incident occurred in Pongchau, Longding Dist. Arunachal Pradesh and involved a clash between the Indian Security Forces (ISF) and cadres of the NSCN-YA party,” it said. “Our sources have confirmed that three cadres of NSCN-YA were killed during the encounter,” it aded. It asked news agencies to “verify information thoroughly before reporting, especially on sensitive matters that may impact the peace process.”
