NSCN (K) cadre killed in an alleged IRB ‘ambush’

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 25 (MExN): One NSCN (K) cadre was killed in an alleged “ambush” by 10 IRB personnel early on Monday, at around 12:30 to 1:00 am at a place between Awotsakili village and Khisakuta junction near Atoizu under Zunheboto district.

However, IRB sources stated that they were repairing a vehicle near a Stone Crusher when NSCN (K) cadres who came in two vehicles first fired gunshots at them. In retaliation by the IRB personnel, one 2nd Lieutenant identified as Kisheto (40) of Lhumitsami village was killed and his SLR recovered by the IRB team.

NSCN (K) alleged that its cadres while returning from Akuluto to Suruhuto designated camp in one Gypsy and Maruti Van were “ambushed” by the 10 IRB. It alleged that the Maruti Van came under ambush while reversing from the spot, after seeing from a distance that the Gypsy was being stopped by the IRB.

NSCN (K) demanded explanation from the district authority and the IRB on why it was “ambushed” when a ceasefire is in force. It has demanded the return of the SLR recovered by the IRB team.
