Dimapur: The NSCN (K) has taken strong exception over what it terms as the ‘partisan and divisive role’ paled by Minister of Roads and Bridges Tokheho and his Personal Secretary Kakheto Zhimomi. The duo has been accused of being in league with the NSCN (IM) while trying to avoid the Khaplang faction. An action command official of the NSCN (K) UT-1 in a telephonic conversation said, “Besides other incidents worth mentioning, it may be stated that on November 8 some of our cadres were assigned to interview the minister. Instead, the PS to the minister sent two NSCN (IM) cadres to confront us.” Kakheto is said to have told the IM cadres to waylay the cadres of the rival faction at the official residence of the minister. “The two IM cadres were being sheltered at the minister’s official residence,” the official said.
“In the process of confrontation, the NSCN (IM) cadres were outnumbered and felt helpless. In the meantime, the PS initiated the route for the NSCN (IM) cadres through an alternate route,” he continued. Reportedly, two other IM cadres tried to sneak in to the residence with a motive to attack those from the rival faction.
“Such divisive conduct being exhibited openly is not only challenging and offensive to the groups but would also result in more bloodshed and killings,” the official said.
Further, the NSCN (K) has said that the consequences of any factional clash which occurs within the vicinity of Kohima would be “borne by such leaders who defiantly dare to patronize one group and challenge the other.”
Witnesses to the account are Shetovi of Satami Village and three GBs who were at the gate seeking an interview with the minister, the NSCN (K) said.
