NSCN (K) claims rival’s hand in Hoho assault

DIMAPUR, DEC 5 (MExN): The NSCN (K) today claimed to have identified two NSCN (IM) cadres responsible for the assault on Naga Hoho Vice- President Keviletuo. Akato Chophi, ‘Supervisor Union Territory-1’ GPRN, NSCN (K) in a statement revealed that the two NSCN-IM cadres were identified as ‘Lance Corp.’ Jacob Chakesang of Zhamai village and a Zeliang collaborator who married a Rengma lady.

“Instead of rewarding deserving penalty, these two criminals were recalled back to IK’s GHQ Hebron and members from IK Kohima town command were taken to task in shifting them to their GHQ”, the NSCN (K) statement pointed out.

Lamenting that there had been wide media coverage against the humiliation meted out to the Naga Hoho Vice- President by almost every responsible individual, groups and organizations from cross section of Naga society demanding for appropriate action against the culprits. “But unfortunately when the perpetrators turned out to be members of IK all hues and cries died a natural death for reasons best known to them”, the NSCN (K) stated.

“Is there any exclusive exemption for IK cadres from being held accountable to all these crimes being routinely committed upon legitimate Nagas regardless of one’s status or position? Are the IK cadres licensed to kill, harass, intimidate, extort or commit any unthinkable anti-social activities anywhere in Naga country? How can they be allowed to go scot-free in such a manner? Isn’t it an act of condoning further criminal activities?” the NSCN (K) maintained.

Pointing out that had it been NSCN (K), FGN or any other Naga that might have committed such atrocities, they would have been hunted like aliens or animals with entire Police force through out the country.

“Personal leaning of the victim towards the culprits organisation should not be the basis of acquitting them from crimes, however close or acquainted a victim could be with IK, the contention here is defilement of the esteemed office of the Vice-President Naga Hoho”.

The NSCN (K) wondered as to what would be the fate of other ordinary Nagas when even top official of the highest of the apex Naga civil organization is not spared from their evil tentacles and criminals go unpunished and without trial at the same time.

“Are the Naga leaders doing justice to our people? Are we destined to suffer silently under the reign of these Mafiosi and for how long?”

The NSCN (K) cautioned that it would keep in record and would remain in vigil as to reaction of these organizations in the future, should any similar incident occur with perpetrators from other groups other than the NSCN (IM).

“Be aware that elements that are intimidating us to shy away from truth today would be an element to kill us and betray us tomorrow”.

Describing it as “heinous acts of terror” meted out to Khehovi Shohe, former President Kohima Sumi Student’s union by NSCN (IM) cadres, the NSCN (K) expressed regret that such “criminals still roam our streets and towns freely and unpunished and in their routine job of unleashing terror and fear over innocent Nagas indiscriminately”.

“Are we Nagas being tolerant or simply subdued by force of terror in guise of Nationalism? At least for the sake of our future generation let us unitedly rise against such forces of evil that’s destroying our peaceful existence”, it appealed.
