DIMAPUR, JAN 14 (MExN): Terming it as “heinous and diabolical” on the part of the NSCN (IM) to simultaneously murder two innocent Konyaks while its leadership was undergoing three days of national fast and prayer with their Yariuwo, Isak Chishi Swu proclaiming forgiveness and reconciliation amongst the Nagas, the NSCN (K) has questioned as to whether such fasting and prayer was a means and way to murder blameless Nagas and whether this was a message of peace and reconciliation. “Would Nagas ever reciprocate to such evil offer of killing at one hand and prayer at the other?” stated a press communiqué issued by Isak Sumi, ‘Military Spokesman’, NSCN (K).
Further, countering the claim of the NSCN (IM) that the two Konyaks were killed in an encounter as was reported in two local dailies, the Military Spokesman questioned that if this was so, how come the victims were “blind folded, legs and hands tied and were further brought to one of our cadre younger brother’s house who was also abducted along with the deceased but freed later?”
“Isn’t it an act of pre-mediated murder? Is there any evidence to support IK’s claim that the deceased were member of NSCN?” it stated and reminded that the Naga people will ‘judge’ this act on the part of the NSCN (IM).
Calling for ‘concertedly’ fighting ‘criminals and murderers roaming our country freely in guise of freedom fighters’, the NSCN (K) called for uniting ‘to banish such elements’ and also bring to justice such culpable offenders at large.
The NSCN (K) also clarified that Sgt. Maj. Moa of NSCN (IM) who was killed in the raid on Daklane, Kohima was the man behind killing of FGN Education Kilonser at Kohima recently.
“Moa defected to IK from FGN and has masterminded several killings of his former colleagues at Kohima in connivance with respective Tangkhul Commanders”, the NSCN (K) alleged.
Pointing out that “the harbinger of serial murderers has once again propped its monstrous hydra headed killing spree in their quest for innocent Nagas blood”, the NSCN (K) stated that the cold blooded murder of Pongjai Konyak and Phoba Konyak, both innocent daily wage earners at Kohima had exposed the desperate attempt of the NSCN (IM) to pursue it’s sectarian issue.
Stating that killings and destructions is the convenient weapon for its rival to gain limelight so that their perverted ambition is recognized, the NSCN (K) alleged that the NSCN (IM) had “all along been resorting to this tactics in order to forcefully perpetuate their terrorist reign over the Nagas so also to gain recognition of it’s existence as in imitation to ways of fundamentalists and terrorists across the globe”.
Killings of innocents would never be justified and price has to be paid, it further stated.
Terming the claims made by Brig Phunthing that the two murdered innocent Konyaks were members of NSCN (K) as highly ridiculous and devoid of any substance, it was pointed out that family members of the deceased victims themselves had testified of their non-involvement with any faction for which they refused to accept the death bodies. “The identities of the victims as claimed by Phunthing i,e Sgt. Maj Pungthing and Pvt. Sophonpa is entirely false and fabricated as police and relatives has already established the victim’s identities . This shows IK’s utter dis-regard for human lives”, it was alleged.
Stating that the People’s Army had at no point of time ever been aware of the two deceased in any manner, the NSCN (K) clarified that they were only made aware of the incident through police information.
“It is also highly contradictory that a section of IK denied of it’s involvement in the Murders, where as senior most IK gang member Phunthing claimed the responsibility. Isn’t it illogical and treacherous on IK’s part to issue such confusing and mis-leading versions contradicting themselves?” it further alleged.
