NSCN (K) stand is clear not to involve in elections

Ex-Minister Kiyezhe Aye, candidate from 33 Suruhoto assembly constituency has out rightly insulted the NSCN/GPRN by alleging that the NSCN-K is involving in the ongoing electioneering process and going to the extent of demanding for promulgation of 144 CRPC in the constituency besides installation of CCTVs in all polling booths in the constituency. He has out rightly accused the GPRN of direct involvement in the ensuing Indian elections by citing the involvement of cadres belonging to Suruhoto designated camp.

This is for ex-Minister Kiyezhe’s consumption and public awareness that the Government of India very well knows the existence of Suruhoto designated camp and that it respects the commitments and assurances given by the top leadership. Secondly, an office of the SDO (Civil) is located within the area besides the Assam Rifles and so far there has been no complaint from any quarter including the villages of the area.

It is only out of desperation that Kiyezhe Aye has started to malign the image of the NSCN after he lost the support of the villages of the area. As a matter of fact, it was he who tried to buy the support of the NSCN, offering Rs.5 lakh to me which I have declined. It was learnt that he offered cash to other factions of the undergrounds to gain their support despite the villages abandoning him. I wish to put this on record that Kiyezhe Aye started maligning the NSCN only after he failed to buy its support.

The NSCN’s stand is clear not to involve in the elections even as it cannot prohibit its members from casting their votes in their respective constituencies and areas in their own individual capacities. Another point to note is his mention of the 2008 general elections wherein he has openly claimed that the NSCN openly backed the then Independent candidate. This is utterly ridiculous as Kiyezhe himself had not even bothered to visit his own constituency. It is only out of sheer desperation that he is trying to malign the image of the NSCN. Else, why not he let the public speak out for themselves. The answer is simple, he has lost the support of the people of the area and knows for certain that he is headed for defeat. So why does he not resign rather than embark on a hate campaign against the NSCN?

The NSCN cannot take this issue lying down as Mr. Kiyezhe Aye has openly challenged the integrity of the NSCN. As such, Mr. Kiyezhe Aye is directed to clarify the reasons and with what intentions he is challenging the integrity within a short time with effect from the date of publication of this statement. Failure to do so may invite action as deemed fit by the NSCN. As for the NSCN-K, we shall stand by what our leader, His Excellency Mr. S.S Khaplang has instructed us and will not involve in the forthcoming Indian general elections as an organization. However, if some of our members are found doing so, their shall be deemed participating in their own individual capacities.
