NSCN (R) and GoI signs ceasefire extension

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): The NSCN (R) and the Government of India signed a six month ceasefire extension at the Cease Fire Supervisory Group (CFSB)/ Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) office in Kohima on October 15. 

Both parties maintained that along with the political negotiation going on between the Government of India and Naga political groups, “whatever necessities or procedures are at hand ought to be maintained too.” A press release from the MIP of the NSCN (R) informed that both parties also agreed in principle to continue to uphold the sanctity of the laid down CFGR and to keep check on any lapses that may arise from either side. It was stressed that the “hard earned peace cannot be compromised or derailed at any cost.” 

The team representing the Government of India included Lt. Gen (Retd) Amarjeet Singh Bedi, Chairman; T Mere, (SO), CFSB/CFMG; DGP, TJ Longkumer; Commissioner, Rovilatuo Mor ; IG (INT), Martin Pienyu; Commander 5 Sector, IGAR (N); Brig Abhinav; SO 5 Sector IGAR (N); Captain Prabhjot; and DIG (ops) CRPF, Surender Singh. The NSCN(R) was represented by Dr. Amento Chishi, Supervisor, CFSB and members Amento Chophi, Muzivoyi Puro, Mughato Chophi and Inaki Zhimomi.
