Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): The NSCN (R) along with Alex Tuccu, Deputy Kilonser, former UT-I Chairman, WC-NNPGs and Ao Region of NSCN (R) have mourned the demise of Tongmeth Konyak (Advisor to the Collective Leadership) who breathed his last on September 30 at Rapha Hospital, Mon.
The NSCN (Reformation) through MIP expressed deep pain at the leader’s demise. Tongmeth was a native of Chingdang Village under Wakching Sub-Division in Mon district.
A condolence message from MIP, NSCN/GPRN stated Tongmeth joined the Naga National Movement in the year 1984 and served the Nation under various capacities. On January 2016, he was elevated to the position of Advisor to the Collective Leadership who stood for the Nation's cause till his last breath.
The late leader also represented the NSCN (R) in NNPGs in 2016 and was one of the signatory of NNPGs/WC – Government of India dialogue.
The void created by his demise will be irreparable and difficult to fill, the message stated while adding that the Nation has lost a great son.
The NSCN (R) prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and implored God's grace to provide solace to his family members and friends.
In another message, Alex Tuccu, Deputy Kilonser, former UT-I Chairman and Ceasefire Board Member mourned the sudden demise of a “beloved friend, a fatherly figure and a great leader.” Konyak was a respectable, kind and a noble person, a great visionary leader that Tuccu met in his life.
He was a true nation leader who stood tooth and nail and served the nation until his last breath with clean and pure record, the message added.
Tuccu conveyed deepest condolence to his family members and relatives at this hour of grief and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
The Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPG) in a condolence message stated that he was a firm believer in the unity and reconciliation of the Nagas. “Today WC, NNPGs are united in common pursuit of resolving the Indo-Naga political solution primarily for dedicated and committed patriots like him,” it added. It prayed that the Almighty God grant peace to his family and the departed leader to rest in eternal solace.
The Ao Region of NSCN (R) through MIP expressed deepest sorrow at the untimely demise. The condolence message stated that the late leader was a true patriot and a brave defender of the Naga nation who gave the best part of his life for the national cause and stood for the nation till his last breath. It prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
