NSCN (R) asks DCCI to clarify on taxation issue

DIMAPUR, JUNE 25 (MExN): The NSCN (R) today asked the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) to clarify its stand on the taxation issue.

A press release from the MIP of the NSCN (R) reminded that the group’s top leaders “had directed all members not to impose any shop taxes in and around Dimapur town during the pandemic.”

The NSCN (R) said that “at no point of time has the Government deputed/assigned any member to collect taxes, owing to the call of the lockdown; rather the NSCN (R) had appreciated the DCCI and other frontline workers for their selfless sacrifices in combating the pandemic threat.”

With regard to the DCCI’s press statement accusing “all Naga political groups (in general) regarding taxation issue,” the NSCN (R) said that “if perchance any imposters/con-men/incognitos or perhaps some NSCN (R) cadres without the knowledge of the authorities had demanded for tax in the name of NSCN (R), then the DCCI should immediately report or make known to the NSCN Authorities, within 3 days times from the publication of this order, so that stern action(s) will be initiated upon the defaulters as per the Azah.”

“Failing which the NSCN (R) will have no option but to take it as an intentional attempt to tarnish the image of the NSCN (R),” it stated.

The NSCN (R) maintained that it has “zero tolerance to any cadres or unscupulous elements who unneccessarily harass the public and taints the image of the NSCN (R) and will leave no stone unturned to thwart any such acts.”

It further affirmed to continue adhering to the lockdown call and extend solidarity to the collective fights against this pandemic. It cautioned “any self-interested NSCN members or other imposters who may take advantage of this situation during these trying times.”
