NSCN (R) conveys festival greeting

Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) has conveyed Metemneo and Biam festivals greeting to the Yimchunger and Khiamniungan Nagas which is celebrated during August 4-8 and August 7 respectively. 

The NSCN (R) in its message stated that Metemneo is celebrated after the harvest of millet and during this festival, Yimchungrü people offers prayers for the departed ones. The festival is spread over 5 days, with each day distinctly known as – Shito, Zhinto, Zumto, Khehresuk and Sheresuk. Biam festival is celebrated by the Khiamniungan people on August 7 and the rituals performed during this festival reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Khiamniungan people.

Through the celebration of these happy and meaningful festivals, may the Yimchungrü and Khiamniungan people continue to thrive and excel in various fields and also be the forerunner in promoting peace among the Nagas, it conveyed.
