NSCN (R) conveys 'Yemshe’ and ‘Tsokum' greetings

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 3 (MExN): The NSCN (R) today conveyed festival greetings on the occasion of 'Yemshe’ and ‘Tsokum' festivals of the Pochury and Khiamniungan communities which are usually observed during the 1st week of October. 

A press release from the MIP of the NSCN (R) stated that 'Yemshe' is a pre-harvest festival of the Pochury tribe invoking God's blessing for the harvest and is celebrated with great pomp and gaiety in anticipation of a good and bountiful harvest. 

'Tsokum' is also a pre harvest festival of the Khiamniungan tribe, invoking God's blessing for a bountiful harvest which usually last for 7 days, where it is observed through singing, dancing, and other cultural activities and also followed by cleaning, repairing of roads and outdoor cookings. 

The NSCN (R) expressed hope that through these festivities, “both our Pochury and Khiamniungan brothers and sisters will surely be blessed with abundance and bountiful harvest and will also continue to be the pathfinders and peacemakers between our Naga family.”
