NSCN/GPRN (Akato) accuses NSCN (IM) of abduction, death of Dy Kilonsaer

Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Akato) today stated that it was “completely appalled” by what it alleged was “cowardly act” of the NSCN (IM) in abducting four of its active members, resulting in one death in Lapalampong village in the Tizit Area of Mon district.

The kidnapped members included three civil officials and one Naga Army personnel, it said.

According to a press release from the MIP of the NSCN/GPRN (Akato), the deceased was the incumbent Chairman Temzei Konyak (Deputy Kilonser), who was “mercilessly beaten” to death.

The whereabouts of the other three - Honchai Konyak (Tatar), Talem Konyak (Leacy) and Captain Wanglem Konyak - are still unknown, it added, expressing apprehension that they might also be dead.

The release further informed that the “abhorrent and disgusting incident” allegedly occurred when the late Chairman along with some of his staff were on their way to meet members of the Konyak Union (KU).

The loss of precious lives is a “direct challenge” to the integrity of the NSCN/GPRN (Akato), which, in all true sense, is “trying very hard to uphold the resolution passed by the ENPO, KU and other CSOs.”

The Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation, KU and other civil society organizations, in the resolution, had called on all the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to “avoid factional clashes, and for which would maintain zero tolerance and not cooperate with any NPG going against this peace venture.”

Accordingly, the NSCN/GPRN (Akato) stated that it is up to the ENPO, KU and other CSOs to decide what measures will be initiated against the NSCN (IM) for “blatantly and willfully defiling the resolution and choosing to abruptly and incongruously insult the good faith of the CSOs with diabolic intent.”

The action has “stirred the present peaceful calm, tranquil aura and blissful serenity” in the region, it argued.

The NSCN/GPRN (Akato) further asserted that while it would “never spill the first blood,” it would not hesitate to retaliate in the “event of any threats, intimidation or unprovoked attacks” and go to any extent to thwart “any sinister intent perpetrated by adversaries and outside forces.”

It will do “whatever necessary to defend our integrity, while upholding the desire of the people as the topmost priority,” it stated.

Any such “misdemeanor and misadventure” perpetuated by any forces would be met with “head-on collision” at any cost, it added.
