DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 16 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Akato) today reiterated and reaffirmed its stand made on December 15 that they are “in the ambit of the ceasefire mechanism.” This, it stated while reflecting on the declaration made on November 19, 2021.
To validate their stand, the NSCN/GPRN (Akato) said it was formed “out of necessity” and not in any haphazard manner that arose due to the “unfortunate split” in the NSCN (R), who were in a ceasefire agreement with Government of India. It further maintained that it would be in “solidarity and in concordance with the NNPGs in order to push for a Naga solution which was at its zenith.”
The NSCN/GPRN (Akato) meanwhile also reflected on the “narratives” of the United Naga Council (UNC) that was published on May 30, 2022 which questioned "what is the hurry now when we have already taken so many years?" It viewed this as “an understatement that needs to be pondered upon.”
It acknowledged that “each and every individual with Naga blood running in their veins, whether they are from Arunachal, Assam, Manipur or Myanmar has suffered the brunt of the Naga National Movement.”
However, the NSCN/GPRN (Akato) said that the “present state of Nagaland was the epicenter of the Naga National Movement; hence the citizens in this area have suffered much more, physically, mentally and socially and the people want nothing else than a peaceful solution to this protracted and long, pending Indo-Naga conflict.”
“And as such, the narrative as to 'why should we hurry?' coming from a matured and responsible organisation like the UNC sends a deep shockwave and considers it as a disrespectful and remorseless attitude towards the people of Nagaland, when it is crystal clear that the Naga National Movement is one of the oldest, if not the oldest conflict in South-East Asia,” it added.
Nonetheless, the NSCN/GPRN (Akato) once again made their stand clear, “that as desired by the people, we are up for 'solution' and not 'election' and will have nothing to do with the election.”
Further, by reflecting on the December 15 declaration to join hands with the NNPGs, the NSCN/GPRN (Akato) said that it is optimistic and anticipates “for the very best.” “However, in the event of any issues that may arise out of such decisive matter, this clarion call is sounded to all ranks and files from both army and civil setup to be prepared and ready at all times to face any eventualities, whatsoever,” it said.
