NSCN/GPRN (K) clarifies on AYO statement

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 4 (MExN):  In connection to press note issued by Angami Youth Organization (AYO) appreciating SAYO/ Phesama Youth Organisation on the incident that occurred on October 3 wherein it was alleged that two gun wielding cadres of the NSCN (K) were nabbed while extorting money from a quarry/stone crusher firm near Kohima, the NSCN (K) has clarified to the AYO statement.

A press note from the MIP has claimed that what happened on October 3 was the “kidnap and assault (attempted murder) on two NSCN/GPRN People’s Army cadre by Phesama Youth Organisation under the aegis of Southern Angami Youth Organisation and Angami Youth Organisation”. “It is felt imperative on the part of NSCN/GPRN to state the undiluted facts in the interest of Justice and common public consumption”, the MIP note stated.

As per the MIP note, “on the fateful day, the two NSCN/GPRN cadres were dispatched to the work site to ascertain if the intimation sent earlier on taxation clearance has been finalised”.

The MIP note stated that the NSCN/GPRN (K) had two days prior to the incident given “information to the proprietor on the spot on taxation obligation”.

It was stated that an elderly person with a Bolero had said that the Quarry belongs to his younger brother and therefore he will convey the matter and asked the NSCN (K) workers to come the next day. “Phone numbers were exchanged for intimation”, the MIP note stated. “Whereas, the numbers provided remained switched off and communication did not take place”.

According to the MIP, on the third fateful day the cadres went to the quarry “to ascertain the assurance given but were told that the taxation matter has already been taken up by the Union and consideration will be made known after discussion” and that the two “unfortunate cadres in good faith thus left the place and were proceeding towards Kohima in a hired taxi they brought”.

“However, before travelling even a kilometre, they were stopped in the middle of the road by a Bolero fully packed with youths and taken back to the quarry and without any question asked thrashed with levers, hammers, rocks. Consequently, limbs, ribs, jaws, eyelids and vital organs were completely shattered”, the MIP note from the NSCN (K) explained.

The MIP note stated that “after venting their beastly furies by reducing the live human fellows to meat balls”, the victims were handed over to Kohima police. “This is the story of the encounter and not as rendered by AYO”, the MIP note stated.
