NSCN/GPRN-K expels Isak, instates new GS

The Khango Konyak-led NSCN (K) has expelled its General Secretary, Isak  Chishi (Sumi). The announcement of the expulsion came via a press release issued by group’s President, Lt Gen (retired) Khango Konyak on September 12. 

According to the press release, the decision was made at a meeting of the top leadership of the NSCN/GPRN-K (Khango), held at its Council Headquarters on September 12. It said that the “house resolved” to expel its incumbent General Secretary from active membership “with immediate effect for violation of Yezhabo, as per Article 18 and misuse of Article 23.”

The charges against Isak included “nepotism, tribalism, failed to follow and adhere to the Joint Council meeting resolution adopted on 23rd Oct 2018, superseding President’s power and authority, seized the Office of Home Ministry, deployment and maintaining the general strength of Military unit which is against the authority of Chief of Army Staff and General Headquarter.”

The release added, “He used the imprint block in an Official pad which is unauthorized by the Government.”

A separate press release, also issued by Khango, further informed that Newell Naga was “unanimously selected” as the General Secretary of the NSCN/GPRN-K (Khango) against the vacancy created by the expulsion of Isak.
