Dimapur, Dec 7 (MExN): The NSCN-K has charged Naga Hoho Vice President Keviletuo Kiewhuo – who was physically assaulted by unidentified armed miscreants November 28 at Kohima – of refusing to disclose the identities of the perpetrators even though he “recognized some of the gangsters” and that the matter be kept from the press because he did not want to “spoil the image of his benefactors”.
Asserting that the assault of the Naga Hoho leader “might turn out to be a myth” an NSCN-K MIP release maintained thus: “…it has been learnt from a reliable sources that the victim (Keviletuo) himself could recognize some of the gangsters who have assaulted him and also an unconcealable clues of the said gangster in the form of mobile handset left by them have been obtained by the victim. The fact is that, the said victim (Keviletuo) instead of disclosing the identities of the gangsters for the information of the concerned authorities, told the men who saw him just after the incident not to tell anybody or go to the press because he did not want to spoil the image of his benefactors, but misguide the general public into focusing their scorns upon the NSCN”.
Labeling the Hoho leader as one of the “traitors” playing a “premeditated dirty game plan continually” to “tarnish the image and credibility of the NSCN” in connivance with the NSCN-IM, the MIP release asserted that if Nagas were aware of the “I-K terrorists and their puppet Naga NGOs” things would have been different today.
“Therefore it is for the information of all concerned that the NSCN has nothing to do with the assault of the traitor, the so-called Vice President of I-K terrorists’ cohort organization that the NSCN has no hand in the dirty incident involving such a traitor and his henchmen, the I-K terrorists” it added.
The NSCN-IM meanwhile, has denied any hand in the assault of the Naga Hoho leader as well as in the assault of a former Sumi students’ union leader. An NSCN-IM MIP release placed the blame on “Khaplang pawn” and termed the allegations as false, baseless and sinisterly maligned to tarnish its image”.
The release stated that the NSCN-IM is ‘staunchly’ against all ‘criminality’ and does not engage in acts of “defilement of offices, assault upon innocent social leaders ad citizens, bombing commercial centers, killing of innocent students and citizens, desecration of churches, permeating communalism, lootings and extortions, issuing threats to public leaders and severing ties with all bodies of civil societies, hijacking and dictating apex tribal Hohos, condemning and issuing vulgar insults to well-wishers and friends of the Nagas as well as international organizations who are in support of the Naga people’s aspirations and the current peace process with India etc etc”. It maintained that the assailant, “Jacob” and his accomplice are not members of the NSCN-IM but rather “to straighten the records” was ‘force-discharged’ in May 2005 “following his disobedient involvement in anti-social activities which are against the law and order of the Naga Army”. The assailant had hijacked a Pfutsero Hospital medical officer’s vehicle and was arrested by the Police On April 29, 2005. The release also stated that investigations in the matter are underway, after which a befitting punishment will be awarded to the culprits to thwart any reoccurrence of such above incidents in future. “hence, all allegations upon the NSCN/GPRN are simply to taint and discredit the NSCN/GPRN, disrupt the peaceful atmosphere as well as confuse the general public of the facts and the situation generated by anti-social elements” the NSCN-IM added.
