NSCW condemns murders

Kohima, October 27 (MExN): The Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) has condemned the brutal murder of a woman in broad daylight in Dimapur on October 23. “The accused on this case must be punished with the maximum as sanctioned by the law of the land,” asserted Dr. Temsula Ao, NSCW Chairperson in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Commission stated it was shocked and bewildered by the “senseless act of a father who hacked to death his own infant son” at Chedema village on October 26.

Maintaining that such cases of brutal assaults on women and children are rising at an alarming rate, NSCW urged the Government to be more proactive and reinstate Fast Track Courts to try and deliver swift justice to the victims and award stringent punishment to the perpetrators.

It further offered condolences to the two families and also recommended that the family of the woman killed on October 23 must be paid the victim’s compensation amount as specified by law.

In a separate statement, GBs Union Dimapur also condemned the October 23 murder of woman in Dimapur. The union through its president, MY Ngullie appealed to the authority concerned not to grant bail, but award highest degree of punishment to the accused at the earliest as per the provision of law. It also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
