Dimapur, April 28 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has issued a weather advisory based on latest meteorological inputs, forecasting continued rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across the State over the coming days.
On April 28, most districts are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning very likely at isolated places. Districts such as Peren and Kohima may witness heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph at isolated locations.
April 29 is expected to be the peak activity day, with widespread localized thunderstorms and lightning across Nagaland, along with moderate to heavy rainfall at scattered locations. Several districts including Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon, Niuland and Tseminyu may experience intense weather conditions, increasing the likelihood of localized disruptions.
Weather activity is expected to gradually ease on April 30, with light rainfall at a few places and isolated thunderstorms. By May 1, no significant weather warnings are expected over most districts, indicating improvement in conditions.
The NSDMA has advised the public to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning events. People are advised to avoid open areas, seek safe shelter during lightning and stay updated with official weather advisories.
