NSDU commemorates silver jubilee

Kohima, January 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Secretariat Drivers’ Union (NSDU) commemorated its silver jubilee on January 12 at the State Academy Hall, Kohima. Kenilo Apon, Secretary to Government of Nagaland, Transport Department graced the occasion as the special guest while Sevilie Angami, first president of NSDU was the special invitee.

Extending greetings to the Union, Apon acknowledged the services of the drivers and the efforts of the pioneers in bringing the Union till date.

“You have done a good job in setting up a Union to take care for your members. You have to reflect on how the Union has grown and progressed and how you will move forward,” said Apon who also mentioned that the celebration is also the time to correct past wrongs and mistakes and fill in the missing areas to move ahead.

“You must also reflect on how to deliver better services,” added Apon while speaking on the importance of abiding by the rules and procedures, service code of conduct in the service of the government. The violation of such rules by any member disrupts the whole system, viewed Apon. The special guest also focused on the dignity of the profession and the responsibility of being a driver. “Respect is earned. When you work hard and with integrity, then respect comes. Respect do not come that easy,” stated Apon.

The silver jubilee souvenir was also released during the commemoration.
The NSDU was formed in 1994 with the motto “Unity through Strength.”
