NSF flags ILP bypass via NST

Kohima, February 2 (MExN): The Inner Line Regulation Commission (ILRC) of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed serious concern over “unconfirmed but credible reports” that certain non-Inner Line Pass (ILP) holders are attempting to enter Nagaland by misusing services of the Nagaland State Transport (NST) and other public transport systems.

In a press statement, the NSF stated that “certain non-ILP holders, following the ANTA directive, are attempting to enter the State by misusing services of the Nagaland State Transport (NST) and other public transport systems.”

The NSF cautioned that “any attempt to circumvent ILP enforcement through alternate modes of transport constitutes a blatant violation of the law and will not be viewed lightly.”

It urged the State Government, the Transport Department, NST authorities, district administrations and law-enforcement agencies to immediately ensure that ILP verification is strictly enforced at all entry points, including bus terminals, railway stations and boarding points of public transport services.

It further cautioned warned that “any individual, operator or official found facilitating or abetting such violations must be proceeded against as per law.”

Reiterating the legal basis of the ILP system, the NSF stated that “the Inner Line Pass is a statutory safeguard and not a matter of convenience,” adding that “selective enforcement or administrative lapses will only defeat its purpose.”

The NSF said it would continue to monitor the situation closely and cautioned that “the Commission will continue to closely monitor the situation and will take appropriate steps if violations persist.”

The NSF also referred to the recent directive issued by the All Nagaland Taxi Association and stated that it “once again commends ANTA and all vigilant federating units and calls upon all concerned to remain steadfast in ensuring uniform, strict and uncompromised implementation of the ILP regime across Nagaland.”
