NSF reminds Nagaland Governor on border issues

DIMAPUR, JUNE 3 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has written a letter reminding the Governor of Nagaland, Dr Ashwani Kumar of the earlier Memorandum submitted by the federation on May 9, 2012 concerning the Assam-Nagaland Border problems, where the federation had given a 7 point charter of demand.

According to a press note from the NSF, the former Governor Nikhil Kumar, through an office notification No.G-12/01-01/02-BA dated Kohima, June 19, 2012 had acknowledged the Memorandum submitted by the federation and had advised the state government to undertake necessary developmental and welfare works in the border areas.

The federation has reiterated the earlier demand and further urged the Governor to provide prior importance and take up the matter at the highest level (GoI) with commitment and sincerity.

During the course of interaction the federation urged the Governor to give top-most priority for the construction of Foot Hill Road stretching the whole Assam-Nagaland Boundary, for which he has acknowledged and expressed the urgent need in interest of the general public. The federation also expressed its appreciation to the Governor for showing serious concern, particularly for the upliftment of the education system in the State.

The NSF, while expressing its seriousness to bring about an amicable solution to the border related issues, has called upon the Naga civil societies and people of Assam to take a pro-active role for peaceful solution to the decade old boundary problem.
