NSF welcomes move to extend ILP in Dimapur

Kohima, December 11 (MExN): The Naga Students Federation (NSF) today lauded the Government of Nagaland for issuing an official notification issued for extension of Inner Line Permit (ILP) to cover the entire district of Dimapur.

“Extension of ILP regime to cover the entire state of Nagaland has been the long standing demand of the NSF in our sincere bid to protect the rich culture, traditions, customs and practices of the indigenous people from the influx of illegal immigrants in the state,” the NSF said in a statement.

It further expressed appreciation to state government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton for the policy decision, which the NSF stated, will “go a long way in protecting the rights of the Indigenous people of the state and holds posterity in good stead.”

The NSF acknowledged the contributions of its seniors who had initiated the “journey and carried the torch forward, and to all who walked along with us throughout this journey until we see the light of this historic day.”

In the press statement issued by its President, Ninoto Awomi and Asst. General Secretary, Siipuni Ng Philo, the NSF further appealed state government to put in place a robust system so as to ensure that the ILP law is implemented in letter and in spirit for which NSF assures the government of our fullest support and co-operation.”
