Dimapur, October 26 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Organization (NSO) has appealed both the NSCN K and the government of Myanmar to maintain ceasefire agreement ‘both in letter and in spirit for the sake of general public.’
In this connection, the NSO leaders headed by its President Mankhat Konyak met to the Chairman of Naga Self-Administered Zone, U Kaysaing on October 23 at Lahe town and discussed about the prevailing situation of the Naga area in Myanmar.
At the meeting, the NSO appealed to the Zone Chairman to take initiative and forward the matter to the Sagaing Region Chief Minister and to the central government to maintain the cease fire ground rules, informed a press note from NSO President Mankhat Konyak, and General Secretary Myint Naing.
The NSO also told the Chairman that while Naga areas is one of the most neglected or remote areas that need development in every sphere, if there is no peace in the region, it will disturb the progress of development and create fear psychosis in the minds of general public, it said.
“We don’t appreciate creating problems in the kitchen by applying the idea of outsiders,” it added.
In this regard, the NSO opined that while making any alliance or agreement with the other foreign countries, the Government should first consider the welfare of its citizens.
“Nagas are expecting the news of bringing more development but our future does not look like how we are expecting and the Naga public in Myanmar are still doubtful that how many generation Nagas will struggle,” the NSO pointed out.
To that end, the Organisation requested both the Central Government (Myanmar) and the NSCN (K) to maintain the cease fire ground rules in the Naga area in Myanmar.
