
Kohima, March 9 (MExN): The Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), BMMU Kikruma under Phek district celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8 under the theme ‘Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow’ at Badminton Stadium, Kikruma village.
Around 500 members and well-wishers including the Block Mission Management Unit staff, Village leaders, Women folk and SHG members under Kikruma Block, attended the celebration.
Vechozulü Tunyi, Retd. Assistant Teacher graced the occasion as the theme speaker.
In her address, she acknowledged the NSRLM team for taking initiative in uplifting the women and the needy in general, while she emphasized on how the modern world is now acknowledging the women in every field.
Besungoyo Puro, VDB secretary Kikruma village addressed the gathering and spoke about “women empowerment” and stated that “most women are now engaged in the Self Help Groups and are actively participating in upliftment of the community in every sphere”.
Nühütalü Vero, Area Coordinator (IBCB) BMMU Kikruma shared the chronicles of International Women’s Day while special song and folk tunes were presented by Phusachodu, Thipuzu and Kikruma village VLO(s) respectively.
Zutatsolü Tunyi from Bolive VLO shared her success story in which she shared about the concept of financial literacy and how to commercialize the product of the locality after the intervention of the NSRLM.
The programme was chaired by Nezosülü Kezo while vote of thanks was pronounced by Kurevolü Vero, BPM, BMMU Kikruma.
