NSRLM concludes 5 day induction prog for new staff

The newly recruited staff, NSRLM at the 5 day induction programme held in Kohima from July 29 to August 3.
Kohima, August 4 (MExN): Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) concluded its five day Induction Training Programme in Kohima scheduled from July 29 to August 3, where the participants were the newly recruited Area Coordinators and Accountant cum Data Entry Operator Managers from 18 Blocks.
In her keynote address, Additional Secretary, RD and Mission Director, NSRLM, Athel O Lotha congratulated and welcomed the new team to the family of Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) which is transforming the lives of the rural communities and everyone involved in executing the program.
A press note stated Lotha briefly highlighted history of DAY-NRLM and its thrust area and the commendable milestone NSRLM have reached in its 7th year of implementation.
She encouraged the new staff by saying that they have been “chosen from amongst thousands of equally qualified candidates to be part of this noble mission. You will be working closely with the target communities and key stakeholders both from the community and governmental level.”
She thus urged them to take this “as an honor to be working for the good of the rural poor of Nagaland.” She underscored the importance of the five day vigorous orientation on all aspects of NRLM where they were encouraged to concertedly ask and learn as much as they can so that they are equipped with knowledge and skills for effective programme implementation in their respective posting area.
In his address, M Rollan Lotha, Chief Operating Officer, NSRLM conveyed that its first priority to new staff is delivering an effective induction training programme.
Taking the participants through NRLM Implementation Framework, he stressed on the multi-dimensional face/context of rural poverty where the poor face geographic, economic, social, political and identity-based exclusion which intersect in complex ways, creating barriers that the poor are unable to break.
He added that the SHGs are the heart of the mission with the ultimate goal of communitization and in driving its community institutions towards accessing financial products & services and livelihood services at the doorstep.
Moving on, he shared the State Mission’s Results Framework which is a learning, live and dynamic framework. He stressed NRLM is a holistic programme touching across all aspects of household needs, and through this integrated intervention approached, by 2025 it foresees touching 1.57 lakh rural household and forming them into 15000 SHGs and federating them into 986 Village Level Organizations etc.
He reiterated learning is important for the staff who must understand and respond to emerging needs and concerns of the rural areas, to look beyond their job description, bring innovations, and that participatory mode in engaging diverse stakeholders is paramount to the success of the Mission.
The State Mission team oriented the new staff on various thematic under DAY-NRLM on the first day. The next two days were facilitated by State team Imonenla Imkong Phom, Khriezovonuo Lhoungu and Bendang Toshi on Institution Building, Capacity Building, Social Inclusion, Social Development, and Gender.
While the last two days was facilitated by Mark Lanthou on Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and field visit.
Simultaneously, parallel induction training on Accounting and MIS was facilitated by State team comprising of Renvunguo Murry, Lansothung Yanthan, Chenogi Semp and Alongba Imchen.
