The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) under the department of Rural Development, DMMU, Kohima distributed 27 Biometric Finger Print Morpho Devise Morpho devise to Digipay Sakhi in Kohima on August 13.
This was done in commemoration of Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav (75 years of Indian Independence) at a function held here this morning.
Gracing the occasion, Kohima additional deputy commissioner N Bhavani Sri acknowledged the NSRLM for engaging the women in the financial inclusion activities, which, she said, is also part of women empowerment. She said a time has come for women to stay financially strong and stand for themselves. She encouraged them to continue to assist the community in the field of financial literacy at the grass root level, which would go a long way in bringing transformation in the society. Further, she stressed on the need to spread awareness on financial discipline among the community.
Earlier, highlighting the Digipay Sakhi (alternate banking model), Rajuselie Lhousa, State Program Manager Financial Inclusion SMMU, NSRLM stated that digital finance was one of the key intervention under financial inclusion where India plans to deploy BC in all Gram Panchayat under “Mission one BC One GP”.
Stating that Nagaland has a plan to position 500 BCs by 2025, he mentioned that Morpho device which were distributed to 27 Women Area Co-ordinator Financial Inclusion of seven blocks under Kohima district (Digipay Sakhi) would provide financial transaction services at their doorsteps for the convenience of all the villages which could be run at home or at common service centre (Digipay Sakhi).

Vitsizo Semou, ADPM, DMMU NSRLM chaired the function while vote of thanks was delivered by Vilalhounuo Solo, DFS, DMMU NSRLM. The programme was followed by training and activation of Morpho device.
