NSS program fetches effective result in Nagaland: Report

Kohima,  Jan 2 (MExN): National Service Scheme (NSS) is an ideal value-based youth programme. This scheme envisages accomplishing Mahatma Gandhi’s long-cherished dream to involving the youth in nation-building, 

According to the states’ department of Youth Resources & Sports, the main objective of the scheme is “personality development of the students through community services.” The report said the scheme ‘which brings about basis attitudinal and behavioral change in the students and shapes their characters’ and shapes them into responsible citizens.

It has been proved that the scheme’s success and effectiveness in molding the personality of the students “is really outstanding throughout the country and Nagaland is no exception to this fact.” It inculcates in youth, national values like friendship, co-operation, selfless service, patriotism, national integration, harmony, secularism and equality, the report added. NSS being a regular programme, altogether 4300 regular NSS volunteers and 2150 NSS special campers in 26 colleges in the state have conducted various NSS programmes during 2005-2006, the report revealed.
