NSS Unit SASRD special camping concludes

Dimapur, May 9 (MExN): NSS Unit of SASRD organised special camping from May 1 to 7 in its adopted village Jharnapani under Medziphema RD block. The weeklong programme included various community oriented activities comprising cleanliness drive, sanitation work, tree plantation, maintaining the saplings planted earlier, conducting village survey and evaluation of present agricultural and animal husbandry practices followed by the villagers. A total of 59 B. Sc (Ag) III year students of NU: SASRD, participated in the special camping programme.
 On May 7 the camping was concluded by tree plantation by the NSS volunteers in the church premises and cleaning the approach road of the village. A formal programme was organised in the community hall of the Jharnapani village with Professor Alemla Ao, Acting Dean, NU: SASRD as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest congratulated the NSS volunteers for successfully completing the camping activities and also motivated them to take keen interest in community development activities. She also appreciated the villagers for their positive outlook with regards to this programme and appealed them to co-operate with the volunteers for undertaking community work.  Dr K K Jha, Programme officer, NSS gave an opening remark, deliberating upon the activities taken up by the NSS volunteers during NSS camping. He also appreciated the sincere efforts taken by the NSS volunteers and congratulated them for successfully completing the camping activities. Chairman village council, Visielie also acknowledged the efforts taken by the NSS Unit, SASRD for Jharnapani village. The programme was attended by the village council members, VDB secretary, village elders, women, farmers as well as youths.
On this occasion demonstration on mushroom cultivation was done by the NSS volunteers Kevi and Toshi and importance of Integrated Farming by Amei and Nivah. Village survey report was presented by Kelvin. Earlier invocation prayer was done by Emilo Ngullie, welcome speech by Atou Kharütso, sharing experience on NSS by Nungsangtemjen Imchen. Programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Viketuno Chusi.
