Sit in protest from June 6 onwards
DIMAPUR, MAY 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) has decided to resume its second phase agitation beginning June 1 and continue till June 5.
This was decided during a meeting of the association’s central and district executives held on June 30.
A press note from the NSSATA informed that the association had met the Advisor, Education Department on the May 1. It also held a consultative meeting with the Chief Secretary on May 3 and meetings with the Director on May 10 and 12.
“However, the department was unable to give any substantial response and as a result of which, the association was compelled to initiate the 1st and 2nd phases of agitation, which was in the form of pen down Strike and boycotting of class,” it said.
The association added that as a result of the failure of the negotiations thus far, the NSSATA would initiate its third phase of agitation from June 6 onwards, which would be the in the form of a sit in protest at the Directorate, Education Department.
It therefore asked all members from all the districts to gather at the Directorate of School Education, Kohima on June 6 at 8:00am sharp. “The NSSATA 2010 & 2013 batch have been undergoing untold difficulties and had been receiving step motherly treatment from the Department from the time of appointment till date,” it rued.
The association further appealed to all citizens to support the NSSATA as it “strives for the welfare of the aggrieved teachers.” It meanwhile resolved that the association would continue to endure all hardships and will continue with the different phases of agitation, till justice is delivered.
