Kohima, May 12 (MExN): The Nagaland SSA Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) Kohima unit has reaffirmed its support to the association’s ongoing agitation, which is in its second phase – boycotting of classes.
“The unit is dismayed and disappointed at the lackadaisical attitude of the government towards the genuine problems faced by the SSA teachers, 2010 and 2013 batches,” maintained a press statement from NSSATA Kohima unit president, Thejangulie Kirha and general secretary, Melhouvonuo.
“The unit fails to understand why the teachers have to face humiliations, time and again, from their own department and state government. It is crystal clear that the SSA 2010 and 2013 batches were appointed as regular teachers as mentioned in the advertisement for the post and appointment letters. It is also clearly mentioned that we were entitled to all the benefits as other state employees,” it noted.
Stating that the 2010 and 2013 batches of SSA teachers have been denied their rights on “grounds unknown,” the unit added, “We have suffered enough and are ready to fight for what's rightfully ours.” As such, it reaffirmed its full support for the ongoing agitation.
The NSSATA Kohima unit further reminded its members to fully adhere to the directives given and to be “mentally and physically prepared” for any action as and when deemed necessary. It also appealed for the support of the NGOs, students’ bodies, and the general public in fighting against the “injustice.”
