Dimapur, September 24 (MExN): Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB) celebrated its 52nd annual fresher cum Nagas Night under the theme ‘cultural mosaic: orchestrating unity across borders’ at the India Campus Crusade for Christ, Bangalore on September 2. The event was attended by more than 900 Nagas residing in and around Bangalore. 

Chautali Panmei IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Goa and Karnataka was the special guest and Dr Along Jamir Director (Translations), Bible Society of India; and Dr Marchang Reimeingam Assistant Professor, Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru were the guest speakers.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Panmei advised students to work hard, be disciplined, asserting that discipline is a crucial quality which is indispensable in students’ life. “Without consistency, diligence and discipline it is difficult to achieve big things,” she viewed.

Panmei went on to say that Nagas are bestowed with rich cultural heritage as a society, and must never forget our origin. Furthermore, she lauded the office bearers for their relentless dedication and everyone involved to make the grant event happen. 

Dr Jamir underscored the significance of unity in progress and peace, drawing from historical lessons. “History reminds us that unity is the foundation for progress, peace, and perseverance, whether on a global or local scale,” he added.

The first session saw cultural dance by Zeliangrong dance troupe; NSUB President Senstuthung Odyuo welcomed the gathering; speech on behalf of the fresher was delivered by Neipherenuo Kire; Rev Dr Reihe, Pastor PNBF offered prayers for the fresher. 

The second session was marked by performances from various artists. Sumenron Odyuo and Illi Ayemi were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher of NSUB 2023. The juries of the contest were Rakovinai Zho, Nuthipru Neinu, Sheyani Kayina and Tiapong Tzudir as guest judge. JN Roziine Cultural Secretary, NSUB gave the vote of thanks and the event concluded with benediction by Yimkum Murry, Pastor Lotha fellowship Bangalore.
