NSYA and NSSU appeal for justice

Writes letter to the ‘Chairman, NSCN (Unification)’ seeking intervention

DIMAPUR, MAY 24 (MExN): The Office of the New Socunoma Youth Association (NSYA), P.O Medziphema Town has written a letter to the “Chairman, NSCN (Unification)” mentioning how two of its youths were “tortured and shot at by cadres belonging to the NSCN (Unification)” and making an appeal to the Chairman for justice.

While condemning the torture and shooting of the NSYA youths, the letter signed by Dr. Rovi Zhunyu, President, NSYA and Dr. Visietsolie Vupru President, NSSU has appealed to the Chairman to deliver justice without delay or default for what it described as the “inhuman acts of torture” meted out on the night of May 22 within the New Socunoma village jurisdiction, which resulted in a bullet injury.

The letter informed that at about 10.30 pm on May 22, the two youths of New Socunoma village (one the Church Youth Director and the other a Student Union Executive) were returning to the village, when some the cadres came in a Maruti 800 car and halted them on the road. They snatched their belongings (one mobile phone and two torch lights) at gun point.

The letter further informed that the two youths were dragged apart to a distance at gun point where one of the youths was shot at, causing injury to the leg. The bullet missed the vital part of the body but left one of the youths wounded in the leg, the letter stated. The Chairman has been requested to look into the grievances with utmost priority and to book the culprits and deliver justice to the satisfaction of the aggrieved party so as to “re-instate the good faith we repose on you,” the letter stated.
