NTC and MKPON condemn October 23 murder

Asks state government to check rising crime against women

Dimapur, October 26 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribe Council (NTC) today condemned the killing of a woman in broad daylight at New Market, Dimapur on October 23.

“This most heinous act deserves condemnation from all sections of society and the NTC hopes that the criminal-justice system will pronounce fast and befitting punishment to the accused,” NTC stated in a press note issued by its Media Cell.

“The need of the hour is to strengthen the system so as to ensure justice for the victims,” it said adding that the murder is an “open and shut case” and urged the police to conclude its investigation at the earliest.

“The outpouring of public anger as reflected in October 25 public rally should be taken note of seriously by the government,” NTC maintained.

It further expressed concern that crime against women in the state is increasing every year with little redressal measures.

The government should ponder the setting up of fast-track courts to settle such matters, it added.

MKPON: The Mech Kachari Public Organization Nagaland (MKPON) has also strongly condemned the October 23 murder and urged the administration to “punish the accused as deem fit of the heinous crime and set an example so that such barbaric crimes are not repeated.”

The organization also extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayers of eternal peace for the departed soul.
